Johnson Charles’s Personal Life

Johnson Charles is from Saint Lucia and has long been connected to local cricket there. A stand at the Beausejour Stadium in Saint Lucia was named after him in 2016, the same time the stadium itself was renamed in honour of Daren Sammy. Charles and Sammy go back many years – Sammy was his first T20I captain, and they won two T20 World Cups together.

After being part of the West Indies’ 2016 T20 World Cup-winning side, Charles slowly drifted out of the national setup and played very few international matches for several years. Many thought his time was over. But strong performances in CPL 2022 brought him back into the spotlight. He worked on improving his basics, balance, and shot selection rather than just relying on power.

Charles often speaks about staying positive and sticking to basics. His comeback shows he was far from finished, even when many had written him off.

Johnson Charles Contract

Noakhali Express have signed Johnson Charles for the Bangladesh Premier League 2026 season.

The franchise confirmed the deal before the auction, calling it a big move ahead of the new campaign. Charles is already a two-time BPL champion and one of the most dangerous overseas batters in the league.

One of his standout records in the BPL is scoring two centuries, a feat very few foreign players have achieved. In the 2023 BPL final, he scored a key 79 off 52 balls, helping his team win the title.
