Western countries set out to isolate Putin, left themselves alone, India changed the customs of the world…now this European country showed the mirror to America

New Delhi/Budapest. At the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, Western countries had vowed that they would collapse Russia’s economy like a house of cards. Such a series of sanctions were imposed on Moscow that it seemed that Russia would be left completely alone in the world. But today, two years after the war, the picture has completely changed. The western countries, which had made a strategy to encircle Russia, today themselves seem divided, and the ‘game changer’ of this entire script has proved to be none other than India.

India’s ‘Nation First’ policy gave courage to the world

As soon as the war started, America and the European Union had put immense pressure on India not to buy crude oil from Russia. It was argued that buying oil from Russia was like funding war. But India kept its foreign policy as clear as glass. The stand of the Indian government was clear—“For us, the interest of 140 crore Indians is paramount.” Irrespective of western countries, India continued to buy cheap oil from Russia so that the prices of petrol and diesel in the country remain under control. This fearless decision of India gave courage to all those countries of the world, who till now obeyed the superpowers in a subdued manner.

Now Hungary raised eyebrows, European Union lost its sleep

Now the European country Hungary has also firmly followed the path shown by India. Hungary has looked the European Union (EU) in the eye and clearly stated that it will not come under anyone’s pressure regarding its energy security. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said bluntly, “We are not ready to give up reliable and cheap Russian oil for the sake of politics and buy expensive fuel from anywhere else.” Szijjarto called it the country’s sovereign right, which has created a stir from Brussels to Washington.

Germany turns red-yellow, but appeal appears ineffective

Big European giants like Germany are deeply troubled by this rebellious attitude of Hungary. German Foreign Minister Johann Waddefull appealed to Hungary to give up its ‘obstinacy’ and said that Budapest’s decision is a betrayal of European solidarity. However, diplomacy experts believe that these appeals by Germany will have no effect now. Hungary knows very well that if it stops Russian gas and oil, there will be an uproar of inflation in its country and industries will come to a standstill.

The ‘weapon’ of sanctions became blunt, Europe became helpless in front of Russia

There was a time when the European Union used to just wait for a signal to bring a new package of sanctions against Russia. But today the situation is such that the European Union itself has accepted that at present no consensus is being reached regarding imposing new sanctions on Russia. Many countries in Europe have now internally accepted that their existence is in danger without Russian energy. India’s ‘energy security’ argument has today become the new standard of global diplomacy, which has shattered the Western dream of isolating Putin.
