Mahindra Announces 2 Brand New Electric SUVs For India: Details
Electric vehicles are gaining popularity, and even Indian brands like Mahindra and Tata have taken this seriously. They have actually spent a huge amount on research and development of EV platforms and powertrains. Mahindra currently has three born-electric SUVs – BE6, XEV 9E, and XEV 9S – in its lineup. Mahindra has just announced two new born-electric SUVs that will be launched in the Indian market.
Mahindra, as we all know, has developed an EV-specific platform which they are calling INGLO. This born-electric platform, or the skateboard platform, is what they will be using in EVs that are built from scratch. As per the information that is available online, Mahindra will be launching the BE 07 and BE 09 electric SUVs in the market. Out of the two, the BE 07 was expected to be launched in the Indian market by October 2026 but Mahindra has now confirmed that the electric SUV will be getting launched in 2027 only.
A couple of years ago, Mahindra had released images of the concepts that their EVs are based on. Out of the five concepts that they showcased, we already have three of them in the market. The BE.05 is currently in the market as the BE6, the XUV.e9 is in the market as the XEV 9E, and the XEV.e8 is the 7-seater XEV 9S. Next on this list is the BE 07.
BE 07
The BE 07 is most probably going to end up with a design similar to the concept, as that was the case with all three models. The BE 07 looks like a mid-size electric SUV that will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki eVitara, Toyota eBella, and so on.

Mahindra has released the dimensions of the BE 07 and, as per the information that is available at the moment, the BE 07 will be 4,565 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,660 mm tall. The wheelbase of this electric SUV is going to be 2,775 mm.
If you compare it with the Hyundai Creta Electric, the BE 07 is longer, wider, and offers a longer wheelbase than its Korean rival. The exterior design of the upcoming BE 07 looks different from the other EVs in Mahindra’s range. It doesn’t get a coupe-like sloping roof.
It retains a boxy SUV-like design, and Mahindra claims that this is an SUV that families are going to love. The issue currently with the existing Mahindra EVs is that they are either too radical to look at (BE6) or are too big or expensive. Mahindra might solve this problem with the launch of the BE 07.
They will launch a mid-size electric SUV with a premium-looking exterior design and a premium yet practical interior, with loads of space for both occupants and luggage. The BE 07 is expected to come with all the features that we have already seen in the existing Mahindra EVs.
Coming to the battery pack options, Mahindra is expected to price this smartly, and in order to achieve that aggressive pricing, they might offer the electric SUV with 59 kWh and 70 kWh battery pack options. This way, they can offer an aggressive price without compromising on range.
BE 09
This is the other electric SUV that will be launched in the market. While we know about the launch timeline of the BE 07, not much information is available regarding the BE 09. It is actually a coupe electric SUV based on the same INGLO platform.

We do not have any information related to the dimensions. However, from what is available online, the BE 09 is going to be a coupe SUV or grand tourer SUV, as Mahindra likes to call it. The upcoming eSUV is likely to be bigger than the XEV 9E and will get a sharp design like other Mahindra models in the line-up.
Mahindra will also offer premium features that will give the occupants a first-class experience. As this is being marketed as a grand tourer, we expect it to come with a bigger battery pack than the current 79 kWh unit. We expect it to be launched next year or may be in 2028.
