Bridgerton Star Gives Disappointing Update on Spin-off Future

The future of a Bridgerton spin-off series appears uncertain following new comments from one of its stars. While the 2023 prequel expanded the world of Bridgerton and was met with strong audience interest, a recent update suggests that a second chapter may not be moving forward. However, there is no official confirmation yet.

Golda Rosheuvel on if she’d want to do Season 2 of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

As fans continue to speculate about a possible second season of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Golda Rosheuvel has shared her thoughts on whether she would return for another chapter. The Netflix limited series, released in 2023, followed the early years of Queen Charlotte, played by India Amarteifio.

Rosheuvel, who portrays the older Queen in both series, has spoken positively about the experience, calling it “wonderful.” Despite that experience, she indicated that she is not actively hoping for a second season focused solely on Charlotte. “I don’t know personally whether I want another Queen Charlotte spinoff,” she told PEOPLE. The actress added, “I’d like another character’s spinoff. I think there’s a lot of scope to delve into other characters’ prequel origin stories.”

Rosheuvel also reflected on the unusual production schedule. Filming for Queen Charlotte overlapped with the second and third seasons of Bridgerton, which she described as both “a weird thing and sometimes quite a difficult thing to do.” She added, “I was like, ‘I have 15 children, and I now know what they look like.’ And then the next day, I would go and film Bridgerton, now knowing what my children looked like. Before, they were just a figment of [my] imagination.”

Rosheuvel said Season 4 of Bridgerton feels closely related to the journey that began in Queen Charlotte. She said the newer episodes bring the story back to its roots, particularly in an important scene between the Queen and Lady Danbury, portrayed by Adjoa Andoh. The moment she referenced involves Lady Danbury telling the Queen that she wants to leave London to visit her ancestral homeland.
