The Naxalite carrying a reward of Rs 22 lakh had just thought of surrendering, but had already killed and buried him.

A shocking incident has come to light from inside the Maoist organization in Kandhamal district of Odisha. According to the police, a senior Naxalite commander of the organization killed his own comrade and buried the body in the forest. It is alleged that the deceased had expressed his desire to surrender, after which he was killed. The matter came to light when a dead body was recovered from Arbadu forest in Daringbadi police station area.

 

Kandhamal Superintendent of Police Harish BC said that the deceased has been identified as Anvesh alias Renu. He was an area committee member of the Kalahandi-Kandhmal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the Maoist. A reward of Rs 22 lakh was declared on his head. Renu was a resident of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.

Desire to surrender became the cause of death

According to the police, on January 29, Renu had expressed her desire to leave the organization and surrender. It is alleged that angry over this, Sukuru, the current head of KKBN division, murdered him. The body was buried in a dense forest so that no one would get a clue. The incident came to light when a Maoist who had surrendered earlier informed about the murder during interrogation.

 

Police Superintendent said that a murder case has been registered against Sukuru and investigation has been started. The recovered body has been sent to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur for postmortem. Police say that this incident shows how badly those who try to surrender are treated inside the organization.

There was an encounter between security forces and Naxalites

Meanwhile, two Maoists were killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Nandabali Reserve Forest of Raikia Police Station area recently. Weapons and other items were recovered from the spot. The killed Naxalites were identified as Jagesh and Ratna. On which there was a reward of Rs 22 lakh and Rs 1.65 lakh one after the other. After completing the legal process their bodies were handed over to their families. Police say that the campaign to eliminate Naxalism has been intensified within the deadline set by the Central Government and the action will continue.
