CM Yogi rides ‘Maglev’ in Japan, talks to air, know its specialty

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who arrived in Japan with the aim of strengthening the prospects of investment and modern infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, took an exciting journey on the high-speed maglev train in Tokyo. This journey was not limited to mere technical curiosity, but is also being considered as a step to decide the direction of future transport policy of Uttar Pradesh.

The Chief Minister experienced a speed of more than 600 km/hr during the 100 km test trip in Tokyo. This speed is much more than the traditional bullet train and gives a glimpse of the transportation model of the future.

What is maglev technology?

Based on Maglev i.e. ‘Magnetic Levitation’ technology, this train does not run on traditional iron tracks. It moves forward floating in the air above the track with the help of magnetic power. With friction almost eliminated, its speed can reach 600 to 700 km/hour.

The biggest advantage of this technology is that the travel time is greatly reduced and the vibration and noise during operation is also relatively less. Japan has long been a leader in high-speed rail technology, and maglev is a cutting-edge example.

Inspection of Tokyo-Nagoya Corridor

The Chief Minister also inspected the Tokyo-Nagoya Maglev Corridor, which is planned to be operational by 2027. This project is included in Japan’s ambitious transportation plans and will work to connect the major economic centers of the country.

The objective of this inspection was not only to see the technology but also to understand how such a high-speed rail system is made safe, sustainable and economically viable.

What does it mean for UP?

Uttar Pradesh is already working rapidly on projects like expressways, metro and defense corridors. In such a situation, the study of technology like Maglev can open doors to future possibilities for the state.

Experts believe that if such technology is adopted in India, it can take connectivity between industrial cities and economic hubs to new heights. However, in-depth study on its cost and practicality will be necessary.

Steps towards investment and technical partnership

This visit of CM Yogi is part of the strategy to attract investment and increase technical cooperation. Industrial cooperation already exists between Japan and Uttar Pradesh and now new possibilities are being explored in the field of transportation also. Overall, this tour is not just a high-speed journey but a glimpse of the future infrastructure vision of Uttar Pradesh.
