Lakhipur police station in-charge Shankar Dayal said that no eyewitness has been found. But in the CCTV footage, some unknown miscreants are seen demolishing the statue with the help of JCB. He said that the police have started investigating the incident and have started searching for the accused.

Police also said that an FIR has been registered in the case of demolition of the statue of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Police have detained one person and seized the digging machine, but have not yet arrested the driver.
