NCERT Textbook Controversy PM Modi’s Concerns Revealed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern over the inclusion of a judicial corruption case in a Class 8 NCERT textbook, questioning whether such sensitive institutional issues should be introduced to young students.

According to sources, Modi voiced his displeasure during a Cabinet meeting, asking, “What are we teaching Class 8 children about judicial corruption?” He also raised questions about the vetting process, seeking clarity on who monitors and approves textbook content before it reaches classrooms.

The textbook’s reference to judicial corruption has now come under government scrutiny, sparking debate over age-appropriateness in curriculum design and the safeguards in place during textbook preparation. While no official decision has been announced on whether the content will be revised or withdrawn, authorities are expected to review accountability mechanisms and approval procedures.

The controversy highlights broader concerns about how schools should handle sensitive topics like corruption and institutional integrity, especially at the middle school level.
