Historic decision between India and Israel; The relationship got the status of ‘Special Strategic Partnership’
On the second day of the tour, delegation level talks were held between PM Modi and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.
PM Modi Israel Visit: Delegation level bilateral talks were held on Thursday between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is on Israel tour. During this, detailed discussions were held on strengthening cooperation in many areas including defense and security, trade, technology and agriculture. Following the talks, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed and these agreements were exchanged in the presence of both the Prime Ministers.
After this, PM Modi addressed a joint press conference with Prime Minister Netanyahu. He began his address by calling Netanyahu his friend and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome. He said that nine years ago he had the opportunity to visit Israel for the first time as the Prime Minister of India and now his second visit is an emotional moment. He reported that he had the opportunity to address the Israeli Parliament and was awarded the ‘Speaker of the Knesset Medal’. Expressing gratitude for this, he said that this honor is dedicated to 140 crore Indians and India-Israel friendship.
He said that relations between India and Israel have stood the test of time. Now both the countries have decided to give the status of ‘Special Strategic Partnership’ to their partnership. He also informed that the Free Trade Agreement will be finalized soon.
The Prime Minister said that technology will be the main basis of future partnership. Today both the countries have decided to establish ‘Critical and Emerging Technology Partnership’, which will give new impetus to cooperation in areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Technology and Critical Minerals. He also announced that India’s UPI will now be available in Israel as well.
He informed that many ‘Centers of Excellence’ have been established in India with the cooperation of Israel and now it has been decided to increase their number to 100. Along with this, there is also a plan to develop ‘Villages of Excellence’, through which Israeli technology will reach every village of India and farmers and common citizens will benefit. He said that both the countries will together move towards ‘future-ready farming’.
The Prime Minister said that India has made a significant contribution to Israel’s caregiver sector. Indian workers have earned the trust there through their hard work and commitment. This cooperation is now being extended to commerce and service sectors also. He said that connecting the people of both the countries is his priority.

The Prime Minister also announced that an ‘India-Israel Academic Forum’ was being set up. He said that there were also meaningful discussions on global issues between the two countries.
He said that IMEC corridor and I2U2 initiative will be given new impetus. Also, both countries agree that terrorism has no place in the world and cannot be accepted in any form. He reiterated that India and Israel have been standing shoulder to shoulder in opposing terrorism and will continue to do so.
The Prime Minister said that the Gaza Peace Plan has paved the way for peace and India has fully supported it. He said that India will continue dialogue and cooperation with all countries in future. PM Modi told Prime Minister Netanyahu that you have made this visit of mine memorable and for this I express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Israel.
Earlier, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that India and Israel together can achieve many important achievements. He said that I congratulate you for our personal friendship and the deep friendship between our two countries. Netanyahu said there were discussions on further strengthening cooperation between the two countries, with special emphasis on areas such as agriculture, education and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He expressed confidence that India-Israel relations will become stronger in the future. Additionally, he also announced the launch of UPI service in Israel.
