Sanjay Singh, Patna. Successful trial of metro was conducted from Bhootnath station to Malahi Pakdi station in Patna on Thursday. With this successful trial, another strong step has been taken towards a modern, safe and reliable public transport system in Patna.
Officials of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL) say that soon metro service will be started from Bhootnath to Malahi Pakdi. At present, metro is operating from Patliputra Bus Terminal to Bhootnath only. A large part of East Patna will directly benefit from the addition of the new section.

Metro trial measured on these parameters
- During this trial run conducted on the elevated corridor, the technical parameters were thoroughly examined by running the metro train at different speed levels. The train was operated up to the prescribed speed in the presence of experts and engineers, so that all aspects related to safety and operation could be assessed.
- During the test, the functionality of the signaling system, performance of the braking system, track stability, overhead electrification system, station coordination and communication arrangements were closely examined. Emergency safety protocols were also examined to ensure the safety of passengers in case of any unexpected situation.
- Officials said that the performance of the Metro has been satisfactory on all parameters. Official sources of PMRCL said that after the successful trial, the next phase is safety inspection and final approval. The green signal for commercial operations on this section will be given once the safety certification process is completed by the designated agencies.

The commencement of metro service from Bhootnath to Malahi Pakri will provide great relief to thousands of daily commuters. This route will provide relief from frequent traffic jams. Time will be saved for school-college going students, employed people and business class. Due to reduction in the pressure of vehicles on the road, the traffic system is likely to become more smooth and well organized.

Experts believe that after the complete expansion of Metro, there will be a big change in the travel culture in Patna. Thursday’s successful trial is an indication that Patna has now taken a decisive step towards modern transport facilities on the lines of metropolitan cities. As soon as the formalities of security inspection are completed in the coming days, the speed of metro from Bhootnath to Malahi Pakdi will give a new pace to the life of common passengers.
