400 crore digital campaign in government schools
Taking an important step towards major changes in the education sector of Punjab, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has announced a comprehensive digitization project worth Rs 400 crore. This initiative has been launched under the ‘Punjab Education Revolution’ of the Punjab Government, which aims to equip government schools with state-of-the-art technology and give a new direction to classroom teaching.
Chief Minister said it was a historic milestone
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann termed this project as the biggest digital transformation in the educational history of the state. He said that never before has such extensive digital infrastructure been provided in government schools. The aim of the government is to prepare the students not only for the present but also for the future competition.
New computers and labs in thousands of schools
Under the project, 38,649 new computers are being provided to 5,012 government schools. These equipment will be given to all senior secondary and high schools as well as 50 percent middle schools. Apart from this, dedicated computer labs will be set up in about 5,000 schools, so that digital education can be made a part of the regular curriculum.
Decisive step towards smart classroom
To promote interactive learning, 8,268 interactive flat panels will be installed in 3,694 schools. Big schools will be provided four to eight units according to the number of students. The Education Minister said that this change is a decisive shift from traditional chalkboard based teaching towards technology based smart classes.
freedom from old technology
The minister clarified that for a long time students were studying on old and slow computers. Now all these will be replaced with the latest software and hardware. The supply of equipment has started and a target has been set to deliver the new systems to schools in all the districts by March 20.
Emphasis on community participation
‘Unboxing Celebration’ programs will be organized in schools from 21 February to 20 March, to which parents, panchayats and the local community will be invited. The government believes that this will further strengthen confidence in the public education system.
trust teachers
On questions related to TET eligibility, the Education Minister assured that no teacher’s job is in danger. The government is looking for a legal solution and dialogue is ongoing with teacher organizations. With this initiative, the government schools of Punjab are moving rapidly towards digital empowerment by moving away from the traditional structure, so that the students of the state can get equal opportunity for modern education.
