‘Ashni’ drone battalion will wreak havoc on the enemies, Lieutenant General Katiyar told what this platoon can do
The Indian Army is working together on many fronts to completely defeat the enemy in the war. In this context, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Command, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar said that the Army is forming special ‘Ashni’ drone platoon in infantry, artillery and armored regiments to enhance its combat capabilities. Lieutenant General Katiyar said that special ‘Bhairav’ units would be entrusted with the task of carrying out attacks deep into enemy territory. He said that in view of the increasing importance of drones in modern warfare, the Army has reorganized its structures.
‘Integrated use of drones in all units’
Lieutenant General Katiyar said, ‘We felt that the use of drones is extremely important. Therefore, we have integrated the use of drones across all units, right down to the smallest sub-units.’ He said that ‘Ashni’ drone platoons (small sub-units within an infantry battalion) have been formed and similar special platoons will be formed in each regiment. The Western Army commander stressed operational readiness, saying future wars may require quick action to protect troops and precise strikes.
‘Special battalion formed to increase attack capability’
Lieutenant General Katiyar said, ‘These special battalions have been created to further enhance our attack capability and special operations capability. In times to come, there will be a need for small, agile teams capable of acting independently and penetrating deep into enemy territory.’ He said that ‘Bhairav’ units would be deployed to conduct operations deep inside enemy lines. Lieutenant General Katiyar also said that most of the drones displayed at the event have been manufactured in the workshops of the Western Command.
‘We have started making drones within the army itself’
Lieutenant General Katiyar said, ‘We have started making drones within the army and are producing them on a large scale. We understand our operational requirements and the technology required, and we can create these more effectively in our workshops.’ Referring to Operation Sindoor, the Army Commander reiterated that India had targeted terrorist hideouts, and when retaliated, India attacked military and air bases. He stressed, ‘After this they requested for ceasefire not only directly from us but also through other countries. They can’t fight us.
