Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: Rohit Pawar contacted Baramati Police, expressed displeasure over not registering FIR against VSR Ventures

Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: NCP (SP) Rohit Pawar and his cousin Yugendra Pawar on Thursday approached the Baramati police demanding registration of an FIR against VSR Ventures in the January 28 plane crash in which their uncle and then Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar died. The move comes a day after Rohit Pawar filed a similar complaint against VSR Ventures and its directors at Mumbai’s Marine Drive police station.

After contacting the Baramati police, NCP (SP) Rohit Pawar said in a press conference, “A report dated February 24 was released, and after that I, along with MLAs from different parties and others, had gone to the Marine Drive police station in Mumbai to demand an FIR based on the DGCA report, which revealed the negligence of the VSR company in the incident involving Ajit Dada on January 28. Some people have questioned why I went to Mumbai, but Under the BNSS Act, 2023, zero FIR can be filed anywhere and transferred later. We chose Mumbai to avoid overcrowding here, but FIR was not accepted there.”

Rohit Pawar further said, “Under Section 173(1), every citizen has the right to file an FIR, as upheld by the Supreme Court in the case of Lalita Kumari vs Government of Uttar Pradesh. Anyone from Baramati or anywhere in Maharashtra can file an FIR in Ajit Dada’s case, and the police is forced to accept it. We waited because we wanted clarity on what had happened. On February 24, the DGCA issued a FIR against VSR Company Dada was traveling in a Learjet 45XR, which was one of seven such aircraft with VSR. Following this incident and the previous accident in Mumbai in 2023, the remaining five aircraft were grounded by the DGCA.”

Ajit Pawar’s nephew Rohit said, “The DGCA has accepted the non-compliance of rules by the VSR company in the Learjet 45XR case. I questioned that if the rest of the aircraft were grounded, then why was the defective aircraft given to Ajit dada. We had come to lodge an FIR against VSR and its owners, and also demanded action against the DGCA officials who had certified the airworthiness of the aircraft. We also demanded an FIR against the aero company, which Who was responsible for flight planning and who said the weather was clear.”

He said, “If any state official in the WhatsApp group ignored his responsibility despite knowing the details, then action should be taken against them also. We have not named anyone in the FIR. Although we have demanded the resignation of the Aviation Minister because his party has commercial links with VSR, we have not named him in the FIR because we do not want to make this issue political.”
