Whoever came, went on killing…this has never happened in the history of T20 World Cup.
After the crushing 76-run defeat against South Africa, the Indian team defeated Zimbabwe badly. On Thursday, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and invited Team India to bat first. Suryakumar Yadav Brigade accepted this invitation with both hands and scored a huge score of 256 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. This is the second highest total by any team in T20 World Cup history. The Indian team missed out by just 5 runs on breaking Sri Lanka’s record of 260/6.
Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya played brilliant half-century innings for Team India. Abhishek returned to form and scored 55 runs in 30 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes. Hardik scored unbeaten 50 runs in 23 runs, which included 2 fours and 4 sixes. He completed his half-century by sending the last two balls of the innings for sixes. Tilak Verma scored unbeaten 44 runs in just 16 balls. During this, 3 fours and 4 sixes came from his bat.

India made a record of sixes
Team India hit 17 sixes in its innings. This is the new record of sixes for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. Earlier, the maximum number of sixes India had hit in a match was 15. Team India had achieved this feat against Australia in the last edition. The Indian team not only left this record behind in Chepauk, but also became the team to jointly hit the most number of sixes in a T20 World Cup match.
Apart from this, Team India broke its 19 year old record. The Indian team scored 218 runs at the loss of 4 wickets against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup, which was its highest score in this tournament. Suryakumar Yadav Brigade destroyed this record by reaching the mark of 220 runs in just 18 overs against Zimbabwe.
