SA vs WI: The first match of the T20 World Cup 2026 was played on Thursday between South Africa and West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. West Indies batsmen on backfoot

Chasing the target of 177 runs given by West Indies, the South African team achieved the target by losing one wicket in just 16.1 overs, thanks to the captaincy innings of Aiden Markram. Chasing the target, the pair of Markram and Quinton de Kock gave a strong start to the team and added 95 runs for the first wicket. During this, De Kock played a brilliant inning of 47 runs in 24 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes. Captain Markram played a brilliant unbeaten inning of 82 runs in 46 balls with the help of 7 fours and 4 sixes and played an important role in the team’s victory. Apart from De Kock and Markram, Ryan Rickelton played an unbeaten inning of 45 runs in 28 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.
