A mountain of sorrow fell on Rinku Singh amid T20 World Cup, father passed away
New Delhi. Khachandra Singh, father of Indian cricket team batsman Rinku Singh, passed away this morning at around 4.36 am after a long battle with stage-4 liver cancer. He breathed his last at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida, where his health had become extremely critical in recent times and he was undergoing treatment.
According to family members, Khachandra Singh was on ventilator support and doctors were continuously giving renal therapy to stabilize his condition. Despite intensive medical care his health declined rapidly and he eventually died.
Personal injury amid World Cup duty
This tragic incident happened when Rinku Singh was busy with the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. He returned home when his father’s condition deteriorated before the Super 8 match against Zimbabwe. Later he rejoined the team in Chennai. However, after his father’s death he returned home.
Rinku Singh was not a part of the playing eleven in the match against Zimbabwe. Sanju Samson and Axar Patel were included in the team composition. Sanju Samson got a chance at the top of the order, Ishan Kishan was sent down and Tilak Verma was given the role of finisher. However, Rinku remained present with the team on the field as a substitute player.
So far, Rinku Singh has played five matches in the tournament, in which he has scored 24 runs and played his assigned role of finisher.
Doubt remains whether he will play further or not
India now has to play an important match against West Indies in Kolkata, which is almost like a knockout. In such a situation, there is doubt regarding the availability of Rinku Singh. No official statement has been issued yet by the Indian Cricket Board or the team management regarding his participation.
While Team India is preparing for an important match, on the other hand the players are standing with their teammates in this difficult time.
