IND W vs AUS W 2nd ODI: Strong start in the second women’s ODI, India’s 251 runs for 9 wickets with the half-centuries of Pratika-Harmanpreet.
Hobart. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bat first in the second women’s ODI against Australia here on Friday. Harmanpreet had injured her knee during the first ODI but she is fine now. Australia’s Sophie Molini was ruled out of the series due to lower back pain and has been replaced by Nicola Carey in the playing eleven.
Opener Pratika Rawal and captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored crucial half-centuries as India scored 251 runs for nine wickets in the second ODI against Australia here on Friday. Pratika’s inning of 52 runs played in 81 balls played an important role in giving India a strong start. He hit six fours in his innings. The Indian team, however, faltered in the middle overs. After this, Harmanpreet scored 54 runs in 70 balls with the help of two fours and one six.
After India won the toss and decided to bat first, Raval gave them a strong start by making a partnership of 78 runs for the first wicket with Smriti Mandhana (31). India tried to take advantage of the favorable batting conditions but some poor shot selection left them in trouble for the second consecutive time in this series. Mandhana missed the paddle sweep and the ball from Ashley Gardner (2 for 39) hit her leg stump.
Jemimah Rodrigues (11) played a loose shot outside the off stump and was caught by the wicketkeeper off the ball of Annabel Sutherland (2 for 37). Deepti Sharma (01) was caught out at deep midwicket while trying to score a quick run on the ball of Alana King (2 wickets for 41 runs). King then trapped Richa Ghosh (22) LBW. Kashvi Gautam (25) made an important partnership of 55 runs with Harmanpreet for the seventh wicket, which helped India reach 251 runs.
