Process of making e-passport
- First of all, go to the official Passport Seva Portal website and register, if already registered, then login directly.
- After this click on the three dots visible above. There the option of Apply for Fresh Passport or Re-issue will appear.
- After selecting the option, fill the form online. After this make online payment of fees.
- Book an appointment slot at the Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra where you wish to collect your passport. Get your verification done on the due date.
- Biometric data like your photo and fingerprint will be taken at the service center. Once the process is complete, the e-passport will be sent to your permanent or specified address.

What is e-passport?
There is not much difference between e-passport and normal passport. Both are similar in appearance also. But there is a safe RFID chip and antenna installed inside the e-passport. In which the complete details of the person making the passport remain. To identify the e-passport, there is a small golden chip mark below the national emblem on its cover. Apart from this there is not much difference.
What documents will be required
To get an e-passport, if you have any one of the documents like Aadhar Card, Voter ID or PAN Card as proof of identity, you can give it. You can give electricity bill, bank statement or ration card as proof of residence. Birth certificate and 10th class mark sheet are required for date of birth.
