New Delhi. Liquor may become expensive in Delhi from the new financial year 2026-27. The license fee has been increased by 10 percent for the excise period of 2026-27. This increase will be applicable to many categories of licenses including hotels, clubs and restaurants.

The Excise, Entertainment and Luxury Tax Department of Delhi Government has issued an order to increase the fees for the license period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. After the approval of the competent authority, renewal of licenses of L-28/L-28F and L-29/L-29F category has been given the green signal.

Under the new system, the annual license fee on Indian and foreign liquor has been increased by 10 percent. It is believed that the increase in license fee may also affect the prices of liquor in the market.

Fee payment deadline fixed

All licensees will have to apply online for renewal through their AXD ID on the E-Excise Portal. The department has also fixed the deadline for payment. Only the basic license fee will have to be paid till 28th February.

An additional charge of 25 percent will be levied on payments made between March 1 and March 31. If payment is made after April 1, 100% additional fee will have to be paid. The department has clarified that if the fee is not deposited on time, the transport permit can be stopped or other action can be taken.
