Big relief in Delhi liquor policy case – Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia acquitted
Big news related to Delhi politics has come to light. Rouse Avenue Court has acquitted Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the alleged liquor policy scam case. The court clearly said that the investigating agencies failed to present solid evidence. After this decision, there was a wave of happiness among the supporters of Aam Aadmi Party.
Court’s strict comment – no evidence, no case
During the hearing, the court said that merely making allegations is not enough, concrete evidence is also required. According to the court, there were many flaws in the charge sheet of the Central Bureau of Investigation and no witness or statement came forward that could directly link the leaders to the scam.
The judge also said that a fair trial is not possible without a fair investigation. No one can be implicated without strong evidence.
What was the whole liquor policy issue?
The matter was related to the new excise policy of Delhi Government for 2021-22. The allegation was that through this policy, some selected liquor traders were benefited and bribes were taken in return.
Both the Enforcement Directorate and CBI were involved in the investigation. The opposition had called it a big scam and many leaders had to go to jail.
What happened in the court?
During the hearing, Kejriwal and Sisodia themselves appeared in the court. Other accused joined through video conferencing. The court clearly said that the investigating agencies could not prove any direct link or criminal conspiracy.
The court accepted that a case cannot be prosecuted merely on the basis of suspicion. The law demands proof, not guesswork.
