‘Changed 170 mobile phones in 200 days…’, on Kejriwal getting clean chit, CM Rekha Gupta said – don’t shed crocodile tears, answer the questions…
Rouse Avenue Court acquitted all 23 accused including Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged scam in Delhi’s excise policy. Responding to the matter, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is a culprit of the people of Delhi. According to the Chief Minister, the verdict given by the lower court in the case of the alleged liquor scam that came to light during his tenure is not the final truth, but it is only a part of the legal process. The truth will be decided, hence Kejriwal should not shed crocodile tears.
CM Rekha Gupta fired many sharp questions at Kejriwal
The Chief Minister said that during the investigation it also came to light that 160 to 170 mobile phones were changed in a period of about 200 days. Why was there a need to replace such a large number of phones? Why were questions raised regarding digital records? If there was nothing to hide then why did such situations arise? All this in itself raises serious doubts. Delhi CM asked, ‘If he (Kejriwal) was right then why was the excise policy immediately withdrawn as soon as the investigation started?’
The Chief Minister also raised the issue of ‘one with one free’ liquor scheme and the alleged increase in the commission of contractors. According to him, increasing the commission from 5 percent to 12 percent and working towards handing over the entire sector to private hands raises doubts. He said that the High Court and the Supreme Court have also expressed concern over this matter from time to time and questions have been raised on aspects of money laundering.
Rekha Gupta also took a dig at Kejriwal’s image of simplicity. He said, ‘You are that person, who wears a size 42 shirt and wears a 44, showing how ordinary a person I am. You don’t feel like staying out of Sheesh Mahal. Leaving the Sheesh Mahal of Delhi, you are living in the Sheesh Mahal of Punjab. You don’t talk down a private jet. You are saying that you are a simple and honest man.
The Chief Minister alleged that there were irregularities not only in the excise policy but also in other schemes. He raised the issue of increasing cost of school construction, classroom projects and building construction. He claimed, ‘In many projects, much more was spent than the sanctioned amount, due to which the contractors were benefited.’
