After the death of father Khanchand Singh, Rinku Singh joined Team India in Kolkata, expected to play in the match against West Indies on March 1.
Recovering from a personal tragedy, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is all set to join Team India’s camp in Kolkata for national duty. Rinku Singh, who lost his father a few days ago, is reported to be available for the important Super-8 match against West Indies on March 1. This match is a ‘do or die’ situation for India.
Gave last farewell to father, now will take charge of the country
On February 27, Rinku Singh’s father Khanchand Singh died after a long illness. He was suffering from the fourth stage of liver cancer and was undergoing treatment at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida. As soon as the news of his father’s demise was received, Rinku reached his home in Aligarh and performed all the responsibilities of the last rites. He shouldered his father’s bier, while his elder brother Sonu lit the funeral pyre.
According to media reports, Rinku’s brother has confirmed that he has left for Kolkata. Despite these difficult times, Rinku has shown her commitment towards the team.
Semi-final ticket at stake
The India vs West Indies match to be held at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata is very important. It is like a knockout match, where the winning team will secure its place in the semi-finals. South Africa has already entered the last four from this group of Super-8, while Zimbabwe team is out of the tournament. Now the second semi-finalist will be decided by the result of this match.
It is important to remember that Rinku Singh did not play in the last match against Zimbabwe. In his absence, Sanju Samson got a chance in the playing eleven, who played an inning of 24 runs in 15 balls. Now it remains to be seen whether the team management expresses confidence in its finisher Rinku Singh in this decisive match or not.
