Indian Railways won the 72nd Senior Men’s National Kabaddi Championship, defeated Maharashtra
Vadodara. Indian Railways won the 72nd Senior Men’s National Kabaddi Championship trophy by defeating Maharashtra 49-31 in the final at the Sama Indoor Stadium in Vadodara on Friday. Under the leadership of PKL’s most successful captain Sunil Kumar, Railways defeated 29 teams divided into 8 pools, with 54 matches played in the last four days.
Railways defeated teams like Chandigarh and Karnataka before reaching the final. Then achieved their decisive victory over the strong Maharashtra team led by Aslam Inamdar, one of the top players of Pro Kabaddi League.
Four teams were in action on the last day of the tournament. It started with two semi-final matches between Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra and Indian Railways and Chandigarh. Railways and Maharashtra reached the final after defeating their respective opponents in the semi-finals.
Railways dominated with their brilliant all-round performance. Pankaj Mohite leads the raiding unit with 12 raid points as Dabang Delhi KC leads the charge in PKL 12. Ashu Malik, who played an important role in helping the team win, contributed eight points.
Railways’ defense supported the Raiders well. He finished the match with 14 tackle points. He maintained constant pressure on Maharashtra throughout the match. Despite the efforts of Shivam Patare and Aslam Inamdar, Maharashtra was seen struggling in the competition with Railways. Railways won the championship by a margin of 18 points.
In the first semi-final, Maharashtra had registered a spectacular victory over Uttar Pradesh 49-36. The team maintained control for most of the match. In this, Aditya Shinde led the raiding unit by scoring 12 raid points. Aslam Inamdar and Shivam Patare also supported Aditya’s efforts, scoring 11 and 8 points respectively.
Along with the raiding unit, Maharashtra’s defense also played an important role in the result. Finished the match with 14 tackle points. Uttar Pradesh had eight tackle points and were clearly struggling.
The second semi-final between Indian Railways and Chandigarh was tied 38-38. In this, Railways won 7-4 in the tie-breaker and made it to the finals. Ashu Malik was the top performer for Railways with 10 points, while Narendra Kandola also added 10 points.
Pawan Sehrawat scored 12 points, and Rakesh Singroha contributed seven points. Chandigarh remained in the contest due to the strong raiding efforts of both.
Bhavani Rajput, playing for Goa, topped the raiding standings with a total of 58 raid points in 81 raids. Meanwhile, Shubham Shinde, who was part of the champions team, scored the maximum 27 tackle points.
