Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has started production of the new Škoda Kushaq at its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Chakan, Pune. Built in line with the group’s strategy of “Make in India, for India and the World”, this SUV has been developed keeping in mind the changing expectations of consumers in the Indian as well as the global market.

An important model in the India 2.0 strategy

The new Škoda Kushaq was the first model introduced under the company’s India 2.0 Strategy. This SUV has been designed keeping in mind the various road conditions in India and the needs of the customers. The company emphasizes on high localization, low cost of ownership and fast manufacturing process.

This SUV has a perfect balance of European driving dynamics, advanced features, comfortable cabin for passengers and high level of safety.

Reaction of senior officials

Andreas Dick, Board Member – Production and Logistics, Škoda Auto said, “The Kushak is our first car developed for the market outside of Europe and is a symbol of India-Czech Republic cooperation. Strong performance in India

Over the years, Škoda Kushaq has established itself as a reliable SUV among Indian consumers due to its excellent driving experience, comfortable cabin and strong safety features. Kushak has been a major contributor to the record sales of 1,17,000 units reported by SAVWIPL in 2025.

World Premiere and Delivery

The global unveiling of the new Škoda Kushaq was scheduled for January 2026. The delivery of this SUV will start from March 2026. The company said that the overwhelming response to the pre-bookings has strengthened consumer confidence in the brand.
