Bangladesh’s new government has been formed, sparking a major reshuffle…

Dhaka. Since the formation of the new government in Bangladesh, major decisions are being taken back to back. In other words, Bangladesh is currently going through a phase of change. Meanwhile, major changes have been made in key positions of the high command in the Bangladesh Army. This is the second such major reshuffle within a week after the new government assumed power. According to a report, National Defence College (NDC) Commandant Lieutenant General Mohammad Shaheenul Haque has been transferred to the post of Quartermaster General (QMG). His place in the NDC has been taken by Lieutenant General Mohammad Faizur Rahman, who previously held the post of QMG.

The report further states that Major General Hussain Al Morshed, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 19th Infantry Division and Ghatail Area Commander, has been appointed the new Adjutant General at Army Headquarters. Meanwhile, the current Adjutant General, Major General Mohammad Hakimuzzaman, has been appointed the new Commandant of the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST). Former MIST Commandant, Major General Mohammad Nasim Parvez, has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In other army reorganizations, Major General Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, GOC of the 66th Infantry Division and Rangpur Area Commander, has been appointed GOC and Area Commander of the Logistics Area in Dhaka Cantonment. Major General Mohammad Mostaghousur Rahman Khan, former head of the Logistics Area in Dhaka Cantonment, has retired on regular terms.

Earlier on February 22, Lieutenant General Mainur Rahman was appointed Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Bangladesh Army. Earlier, he was the GOC of the Army Training and Doctrine Command. Apart from this, changes have been made in several other top positions in the Army. These orders were issued from the Army Headquarters on Sunday afternoon. Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hasan, the current Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division, has been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Ambassador. Major General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman has been appointed the new Principal Staff Officer. Earlier, he was the GOC of the 24th Infantry Division.

Major General JM Imdadul Islam has been transferred from the 55th Infantry Division to the East Bengal Regimental Centre. Major General Ferdous Hasan, Commandant of the East Bengal Regimental Centre, has been appointed as the GOC of the 24th Infantry Division. Brigadier General Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, posted at the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, has been promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed as the GOC of the 55th Infantry Division. Brigadier General Mohammad Qaiser Rashid Chowdhury has been appointed as the new Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).
