America: Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton denies any meeting with Epstein
Washington, February 27. Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a statement before the ‘Oversight and Government Reform Committee’ of the House of Representatives. He clarified to lawmakers that he had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes nor had he met the notorious financier. He said that I had no knowledge about his criminal activities. I don’t remember ever meeting Epstein. I never flew on his plane nor visited his island, homes or offices.
Let us tell you that Clinton appeared on the summons as part of the Republican-led committee’s investigation into the federal government’s conduct of the investigation against Epstein (who died in custody on sex trafficking charges in 2019) and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell (who is now serving a sentence in federal prison). In her opening statement, Clinton strongly criticized the investigation. “I am fully aware that I have no information that would be helpful to your investigation, yet they are coercing President Trump into testifying in order to distract from his actions and hide them despite demanding legitimate answers,” he accused the committee.
He further said that this investigation is designed to protect a political party and a public official rather than deliver truth and justice for the victims and survivors. Clinton said she had no recollection of ever meeting Epstein and reiterated that she had nothing to say beyond her sworn statement in January. The testimony during the closed-door hearing became somewhat controversial when a photograph was leaked and posted online. According to the rules of the House, taking photographs during such proceedings is prohibited.
Clinton later described the leak as extremely troubling because it suggests they may be violating other terms of our agreements. He also described the questioning as repetitive. “I don’t know how many times I had to say that I didn’t know Jeffrey Epstein,” she told reporters after the hearing. This is recorded many times. The Republican chairman of the committee, Representative James R. Comer defended the investigation. Comer said before the statement that this was not a partisan retaliation.
He explained that Democrats had voted to convict him of contempt of Congress after the Clintons initially refused to appear. Comer said Republicans were not satisfied with some of Clinton’s answers and would question her further during former President Bill Clinton’s testimony on Friday. Democrats on the committee strongly opposed it. Representative Yasmin Ansari said that we are looking at a very non-serious and farce-like statement. Representative Robert Garcia said that Clinton had no knowledge of any wrongdoing.
Let us tell you that Clinton urged the committee to focus on releasing the files and call people directly involved in the case. He said you have made little effort to call out the people who most prominently appeared in the Epstein files. At the same time, Senate Democrats said they would try to preserve Justice Department records related to the Epstein files and review unredacted material. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer said that Democrats will hold Pam Bondi and everyone involved at the Justice Department accountable for the cover-up.
Jeffrey Epstein was a high-profile financier who had access to big names in the world of politics and business. The legal charges against him began in 2008, when he was convicted of sex crimes involving minors. “Later in 2019, he was charged with federal human trafficking (sex trafficking), but he died in a New York jail before his case could proceed to trial.”
