T20 World Cup: Rehan Ahmed of Pakistani origin did wonders, keeps the hopes of Pakistan team alive

R of Colombo. England defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in a thrilling match of T20 World Cup Super-8 at Premadasa Stadium on Friday. This victory made it easier for Pakistan to reach the semi-finals. Pakistani origin leg spinner Rehan Ahmed became the hero of this victory.

Rehan came to bat at number eight when England needed 43 runs from 19 balls. Will Jacques was at the crease, but Rehan attacked instead of supporting. He scored 19 unbeaten runs by hitting 2 sixes and 1 four in just 7 balls and led England to victory with 3 balls remaining. In bowling also, he took 2 wickets for 28 runs in 3 overs.

What the entire Pakistani team could not do, 21 year old Rehan accomplished. Born in England, Rehan’s father Naeem Ahmed is a resident of Mirpur, Pakistan. Former cricketer Naeem went to England in 2001 to secure his family’s future and drove a taxi. Rehan has debuted for Pakistan in all formats in 2022 – 5 Tests, 9 ODIs, 13 T20s.

This explosive inning of Rehan has filled new energy among Pakistani fans. Now Pakistan has another chance in Super-8.
