According to Ayurveda, benefits and disadvantages of pulses, consumption method and necessary precautions!
Ayurveda has told about the benefits and avoidance of these pulses.
Moong Dal: Moong is one of the light and easily digestible pulses, which has a cooling effect. Its consumption is said to be best for weak digestion, acidity, diabetes, PCOS and thyroid patients. However, in case of excessive cough, cold and extremely cold weather, one should avoid eating this dal at night.
Masoor Dal: Its nature is hot, hence it is mainly eaten to keep the body warm, lose weight and reduce fatty liver. People who have joint pain, piles, digestion or kidney related problems should consume lentils sparingly.
Arhar Dal: Most of the people like to eat Arhar Dal. It is delicious in taste and nutritious, which helps in removing general weakness of the body. Those suffering from acidity should avoid eating it with strong spices at night.
Chana dal: Chana dal has appetite controlling properties. Therefore, people who feel very hungry should include chana dal in their diet. Diabetic patients can also eat it. People with weak digestive power should avoid eating this dal at night.
Urad Dal: Eating it increases the strength of joints. It helps in removing weakness, however, people suffering from obesity, high cough, phlegm, fever and acidity should avoid eating it.
Rajma: Eating Rajma, an excellent source of protein and fiber, is very beneficial for health, but avoid eating this lentil which causes gas, IBS, thyroid and weight loss.
White gram: White gram or Kabuli gram is a lentil which is very beneficial in muscle building. Women suffering from constipation, acidity and PCOS should eat it in balanced quantity.
Black gram: Stamina and iron are found in abundance in black gram. Therefore its consumption is very beneficial for health. People who have problems like gas, flatulence, joint pain, should consume this dal in minimum quantity.
Dry Peas: Consuming dry peas, rich in protein and energy, is very beneficial for health, but people suffering from cold, mucus, gas and weak digestion should try to eat less or none of it.
