Rinku Singh’s father Khanchand Singh died on the morning of 27 February in a Greater Noida hospital after long treatment for cancer. Rinku attended her father’s last journey and shouldered him. A large number of people attended the funeral held in Aligarh and many stalwarts of the cricket world expressed their condolences. BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla described this incident as very sad.

Team India is the defending champion of the T20 World Cup and has reached Kolkata on the evening of 27 February. Rinku had earlier returned home from the team after the Super-8 match against South Africa due to his father’s deteriorating health. Later, he rejoined the team in Chennai before the match against Zimbabwe and continued the game.

He scored a total of 24 runs in five innings, remaining unbeaten twice and his best score was 11*. In 10 T20I matches played this year, Rinku has scored 115 runs in 8 innings. His average was 28.75 and strike rate was 132.18, while his best score was 44 not out.
