Chloe Kim shuts down viral AI engagement hoax with Myles Garrett
Olympic snowboarding star Chloe Kim has officially set the record straight regarding a viral “engagement” to NFL powerhouse Myles Garrett, calling the rumours a total digital fabrication.
The buzz ignited during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy after an AI-generated image began circulating on social media. The doctored photo appeared to show the Cleveland Browns defensive end down on one knee proposing to Kim on the Olympic stage.
The hoax was so convincing it even fooled fellow athletes, including skiing legend Lindsey Vonn, who texted Kim to congratulate her.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! This week, Kim laughed off the high-tech prank. Looking at the fake image, she pointed out several “red flags” that gave it away.
“Don’t fall for it, guys!” she told the audience. She jokingly noted that the AI version of her was already wearing a ring before the proposal and criticised Garrett’s choice of accessories in the fake shot, saying:
“I don’t want my man to propose to me with sunglasses on.”
While the engagement is not real, their relationship certainly is. Garrett was a constant fixture in the stands in Italy, wearing custom gear to support Kim as she secured her historical silver medal.
Despite the online “wedding bells,” Kim confirmed they are simply happy as boyfriend and girlfriend.
