Moong Dal Gujiya Recipe: As soon as the name of Holi comes, preparation of aromatic dishes starts in the house. Usually sweet Gujiya is made in every house, but if you or someone in your house does not like sweets, then this recipe is for you. Namkeen Moong Dal Gujiya is crispy from outside and spicy from inside. Its taste is so amazing that after eating it once, the hand automatically moves towards the other Gujiya. Let us know the easy method of making it.
Easy Recipe of Salted Moong Dal Gujiya
Flour- 2 cups
Oil or Ghee – 3 tbsp
Salt- as per taste
Water- as per need
Ingredients for Stuffing
Moong dal- 1 cup (soaked)
Cumin – ½ tsp
Fennel – ½ tsp
Coriander powder- ½ tsp
Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
Garam masala- 1 tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Green chilli – finely chopped
Salt- as per taste
How to make Gujiya
Mix flour, salt and oil in a bowl and mix well. Add water little by little and knead a stiff dough. Cover the dough and keep it aside for 20 minutes. Now drain the water from the soaked moong dal and grind the dal coarsely. Heat some oil in a pan. Add cumin, fennel and asafoetida in it. When the spices start crackling, add ground lentils and fry on low flame. Now add red chilli, coriander powder, garam masala and salt to it.
When the lentils become dry and slightly crispy, turn off the gas. Finally add green chilli and green coriander. Take a small ball of dough. Roll out and place stuffing in the middle. Fold in half and seal the edges tightly. Prepare all the Gujiyas in the same manner. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the Gujiya on low flame until it turns golden. Take out in a plate and serve to the guests at home with chutney.
method of serving
Serve salty moong dal gujiya with green chutney or tamarind chutney. This will add a different and special taste to the Holi thali.
