World record holder archer Tejal Salve made place in Indian team for Asia Cup

Junior Selection Trials for Asia Cup-WRT Stage 2 (Iraq) concluded in Sonipat, Haryana. After five days of competitions, Vijay Bharat Foundation (VBF) archer Tejal Salve confirmed her place in the Indian team. She performed brilliantly and qualified in the women’s compound category.

Tejal Salve, resident of Jalna, Maharashtra, has recently joined Ahmedabad-based Vijaya Bharat Foundation. He displayed excellent technical accuracy and confidence in the selection trials.

Praising Tejal, VBF archery coach Jong Woo Park said that his routine is very disciplined and he is capable of making fast and decisive shots even in pressure situations. He said the win against a top-ranked player in the opening round robin match boosted Tejal’s confidence and thereafter he continued to excel.

Tejal Salve has already created history. In June 2025, he along with Shanmukhi Naga Sai and Tanishka Neelkumar broke the U-21 world record. The trio had set a new record by scoring a combined score of 2,101 points.

The country is once again expecting a medal from Tejal in the Asia Cup.
