Sports brings people together and the people of Jammu and Kashmir will cherish this dream for a very long time. Celebrations will be held on the streets of Srinagar, Jammu, Kargil, Akhnoor, Poonch, Kathua and Baramulla. This victory has given rise to great hope for a bright future for cricket in the state. Heroes are made through hard work, courage, determination and dedication and this is a great example of that. It was 2.10 pm local time and both the captains decided to join hands. Captain Paras Dogra declared the innings and the entire team came to the field celebrating. Jammu and Kashmir took a huge lead of 291 runs in the first innings, becoming champions of the 91st Ranji Trophy.

It took 67 years for Jammu and Kashmir to achieve that rare glory. Playing their first Ranji final and that too against Karnataka (eight-time Ranji champions) was a huge achievement but the way the team maintained its momentum throughout the match showed how far they have come in red-ball cricket. Jammu and Kashmir dominated with both bat and ball and restricted Karnataka with their calculated approach. Six of their top seven batsmen scored more than fifty runs to start the match. Pundir scored a century, while Nabi’s seventh 5-fer of this season put Karnataka further on the back foot.

Shubham Pundir, who played an inning of 121 runs for Jammu and Kashmir in the final, was chosen as the player of the match. Whereas Auqib Nabi Dar, who took the maximum 60 wickets this season, was chosen as the Player of the Series.
