The Kerala Story 2 dominates the big screen, beats ‘Border 2’ and ‘O’Romeo’ in first day earnings

Box Office Collection:In the year 2023, the controversial film Kerala Story has once again returned to the big screen with its new sequel. Like Part One, ‘The Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond’ got embroiled in controversies right from the trailer release. The film was accused of spreading communal violence and the matter reached the court.

Legal disputes arose regarding the film and the court banned the release of the film. Then somehow the film got the green signal and the film reached the theatres. But they say that other publicity is good publicity. Similarly, the film, which was released in theaters yesterday i.e. on 27th February, has registered a strong start at the box office.

Beat Border 2 and O’Romeo

‘The Kerala Story 2’ was released at the box office on 27th February and now its first day collection figures have been revealed. The film did not clash with any new film but gave a tough competition to Border 2 and O’Romeo, which already had a strong hold at the box office.

Despite O’Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor in the lead role, and the classic sequel Border 2, starring Sunny Paaji, ‘The Kerala Story 2’ has done well at the box office on the first day.

The Kerala Story 2: Day 1 Collection

Despite legal speculations and controversies, the film has received good response. According to SACNL data, ‘The Kerala Story 2’ has earned Rs 3.5 crore on the big screen on the first day. While the gross collection of the film has been recorded at Rs 4.15 crore, which is considered a satisfactory start despite the film being surrounded by controversies.

At the same time, it has been more than a month since ‘Border 2’ was released in theaters and its collection on last Friday was around Rs 17 lakh. On the other hand, ‘O’Romeo’ did a business of around Rs 1.15 crore on its 15th day.

Why is there controversy?

The story of this film produced by Vipul Shah is based on the issue of forced religious conversion. It is shown in the film how girls are lured into a love trap, converted to their religion and fed beef.

The matter reached the court considering some scenes of the film as objectionable and inflammatory. Initially the court banned the release, but the ban was lifted the very next day, after which the film could be released in theatres.
