Played for Al Falah University team, now made J&K Ranji champion, who is Kamran?

Jammu and Kashmir has created history. This team has defeated a strong team like Karnataka in the final of Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season on the basis of first innings lead. With this he has ended the drought of 67 years. Jammu and Kashmir team has become Ranji champion for the first time. Shubham Pundir, Aaqib Nabi, captain Paras Dogra, Sahil Lotra and Kamran Iqbal played important roles in this historic victory of the team.

 

Shubhman Pundir had scored 121 runs in the first innings. Sahil Lotra scored 72 runs in the first innings and 101 unbeaten runs in the second innings. Paras Dogra came back to the crease after being retired hurt in the first innings and scored 70 runs. Whereas Aaqib took 5 wickets and bundled out Karnataka on the score of 291, due to which Jammu and Kashmir took a huge lead of 291 runs and it was ensured that the title would be in its name only. However, Jammu and Kashmir had to bat well in the second innings also, so that Karnataka did not get any chance to make a comeback.

 

Jammu and Kashmir did not have a good start in the second innings. He lost 2 wickets for 11 runs only. From here, Kamran Iqbal first made half-century partnerships with Paras Dogra (16) and then Abdul Samad (32) and eliminated Karnataka from the match. He stood pegged at one end and played a memorable inning of 160 not out.

There was a sudden entry in the team

Kamran Iqbal was suddenly called after the injury to regular opener Shubham Khajuria. He hurriedly took a flight and reached the venue. Kamran joined the Jammu and Kashmir team just half an hour before the toss. Kamran scored only 6 runs in the first innings but in the second innings he faced the Karnataka bowlers bravely and scored the highest score of his career.

Who is Kamran Iqbal?

Right-handed opening batsman Kamran Iqbal has played 15 first-class matches so far, in which he has scored 913 runs at an average of 36.52. During this period, he has scored 2 centuries with his bat. Before scoring a century in the Ranji final, Kamran had given a memorable victory to Jammu and Kashmir by scoring 133 runs in the chase of 179 runs against Delhi in the first half of this season. This was Jammu and Kashmir’s first win against Delhi. Kamran has emerged from age group cricket. He has also played for Al Falah University, Jammu and Kashmir Under-19 and Indian Under-19 teams before coming to the senior level.
