Ranji Trophy 2026: Jammu and Kashmir cricket team has created history by winning the Ranji Trophy for the first time under the captaincy of Paras Dogra. In this season of 2025-26, the team reached the final for the first time, where they faced Karnataka. The final match ended in a draw but Jammu and Kashmir was declared the winner on the basis of excellent performance and taking lead in the first innings. This historic success of the team has surprised everyone in the cricket world.
Jammu and Kashmir became champion after 67 years
Jammu and Kashmir played brilliantly in the final match and scored a huge score of 584 runs in its first innings, in response to which Karnataka team could score only 293 runs. Despite getting a huge lead of 291 runs on the basis of first innings, instead of giving follow to Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir batted itself and scored 342 runs losing 4 wickets in the second innings.
In the final, with the consent of both the captains, the match was declared a draw and Jammu and Kashmir became the champion for the first time on the basis of first innings lead rule. With this historic victory, Jammu and Kashmir’s long wait of 67 years to win the Ranji Trophy also ended.
These legendary players were playing for Karnataka
Many veteran players were playing in the final match for Karnataka team, who have experience of playing Test cricket for India. This team included big names like KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Devdutt Padikkal and Prasidh Krishna. Mayank Agarwal played brilliantly and scored 160 runs in the first innings.

How many runs did Jammu and Kashmir players score?
In the first innings of the final for Jammu and Kashmir, Shubham Pundir performed brilliantly and scored 121 runs, in which he hit 12 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from them, Yawar Hasan made important contribution of 88 runs, captain Paras Dogra made 70 runs and Abdul Samad made 61 runs. Aaqib Nabi Dar did wonders in bowling and took 5 wickets. In the second innings, Kamran Iqbal scored a brilliant 160 runs and Sahil Lotra scored a brilliant century of 101 runs for the champion team.
