New Delhi . It is impossible to talk about classic Bollywood films and not mention Amar Akbar Anthony. But very few people know that a female version of this iconic film was also made, which could never be released. This unheard story was revealed by actress Sudha Chandran in a recent interview.

Sudha Chandran, who has made her mark in TV and films and gained special popularity with the film Mayuri, told that in her early career she was a part of a film called Sita Salma Suzy. This film was actually the female lead version of ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’. The project is said to be inspired by the superhit story by the original film’s director Manmohan Desai, but was to tell the story of three sisters.

Sudha told that Archana Puran Singh and Moon Moon Sen were in lead roles with her in this film. Among the male artists, Jeet Upendra, Shekhar Suman and S.D. Banerjee was involved. The film was being shot with great enthusiasm and the entire team was confident that they were making a memorable film. According to Sudha, all the actors were working with utmost sincerity and they really felt that they were presenting a classic in a new style. But due to some reason this film could not be released and remained an incomplete story.

  • This film also brought a special twist in Sudha Chandran’s personal life. It was during this project that he met Ravi Dang, who was an associate director in the film. Initially, Sudha found Ravi a bit arrogant, because he did not respond to her ‘good morning’. When he asked about this, Ravi replied that he gets paid for his work, not for formalities. Sudha liked this frankness. Gradually the closeness between the two grew and they decided to get married. Although it was not easy to convince the family, eventually the parents accepted his choice.

Even though ‘Sita Salma Suji’ could not reach the theatres, this film became a memorable story of Sudha Chandran’s life, a story in which the beginning of a beautiful relationship is linked with the incomplete film.
