Israel-Iran Tension: Iranian Defense Minister killed in Israel-US air strike, claim to have killed IRGC commander too

Iran-Israel War: Iranian Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohammad Pakpur have been killed in Israeli strikes. According to an Israeli official, several senior officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian, were targeted in the attacks this morning.

The Israeli Military (IDF) has also released a video of the attack on hundreds of targets in western Iran under Operation Roaring Lion. Pakpour took command of the IRGC after its former chief Hussein Salami was killed by Israel at the start of the June 2025 war.

Death of Defense Minister and IRGC Commander

According to news agency Reuters, Iranian Defense Minister Aamir Nasirzadeh and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Mohammad Pakpur have been killed in the Israeli and American airstrike that took place in Iran on Saturday morning.

Israeli army released video

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) has also released a video of the attack on hundreds of targets in western Iran as part of Operation Roaring Lion. The Israeli army released the video on Twitter and wrote that people from the Iranian government’s surface-to-surface missile unit were loading a missile launcher and preparing to immediately launch it towards Israel. The threat was identified and quickly attacked, preventing launches towards Israel.

Iran also retaliated
