The incident took place near the Kuano river bridge located near Banswari village under the police station area, where a major accident was averted due to the timely rescue operation.

According to the information received, on 28.02.2026, at around 5 pm, Sikriganj police station was on foot patrol. Meanwhile, information was received that a girl had jumped into the river from the Kuano river bridge. As soon as the information was received, the police team under the leadership of Police Station Head Ashish Kumar Tiwari immediately reached the spot. With the help of local villagers already present at the spot, a search was started in the river without any delay.

With the joint efforts of police and villagers, the minor girl was taken out safely. His condition was found to be normal at the primary level. Thereafter he was brought safely to the police station and necessary inquiry and action was taken as per rules. The police showed promptness and gathered information about the family members and called them to the police station. After all the necessary formalities, the minor was safely handed over to his family.

This entire action was completed under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Gorakhpur Dr. Kaustubh and Superintendent of Police Southern and supervision of Area Officer Khajani.
