Ranji Final: Jammu and Kashmir created history, became Ranji champion for the first time
Hubli: Jammu and Kashmir team created a new history today. Jammu and Kashmir achieved the honor of becoming the new Ranji champion with the title match with Karnataka being drawn on the fifth day on Saturday. This achievement was even more spectacular for Jammu and Kashmir as its state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was present in the stadium to witness this historic moment.

As soon as Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra declared his second innings at 342 runs for four wickets, his players started celebrating on the field. It was 2.10 pm local time. Both the captains decided to join hands, Jammu and Kashmir won the title on the basis of first innings lead. It took 67 years for Jammu and Kashmir to achieve this impossible victory. But finally it became possible.

Playing your first final and that too against eight-time champions Karnataka was a big deal. But the team dominated with bat and ball and stopped Karnataka. Shubham Pundir’s century (121) and Aaqib Nabi’s five wickets put Karnataka on the backfoot. In the second innings of Jammu and Kashmir, Kamran Iqbal scored 160 not out and Sahil Luthra scored 101 not out.
