Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson, Senior Colonel Jiang Xiaokang, released information related to recent military affairs on February 28. The Philippines, the US, Japan and Australia recently conducted so-called “joint patrols” in the airspace and waters near Hwangyen Island.
The US and the Philippines held a strategic dialogue, noting that China’s activities in the South China Sea adversely affect regional peace and stability as well as the economy of the Indo-Pacific region and even the broader region.
Discussing this, spokesperson Jiang Xiaokang said that countries outside the region, such as the United States, have come to the South China Sea from far and wide to demonstrate their military power and deliberately create unrest, which is a source of tension and chaos.
The Philippines has repeatedly violated and provoked China’s rights, thereby harming the common interests of countries in the region. Philippines is a completely unruly and peace disturbing country. China has indisputable sovereignty over the islands and adjacent waters in the South China Sea, and China has sovereign rights and jurisdiction over the corresponding waters.
Regarding the US recently repeatedly accusing China of conducting nuclear explosion tests, Jiang Xiaokang said, “These comments of the US are completely baseless. China adheres to the policy of ‘no first use’ when it comes to nuclear weapons.”
“Maintains a self-defense nuclear strategy, always maintains its nuclear forces at the minimum level necessary for national security, does not engage in a nuclear arms race with any country, always adheres to its commitment to ‘suspend nuclear testing,’ and China has never conducted any activity that violates the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.”
