  • Mawa.
  • Ingredients for filling – powdered sugar, cardamom powder and finely chopped almonds, cashews and raisins.
  • Shaping mold.

This is the step by step recipe for making Mawa Gujiya.

  1. First of all, add sufficient amount of pure desi ghee to the flour and knead it well. Gujiya dough is kneaded softly.
  2. After this, leave the dough to rest for 30 minutes. Now make small balls from the prepared dough and roll them into puris. Now mawa filling will be added to it.
  3. For the filling, fry the mawa on low flame until it turns golden. By doing this its rawness will go away. Now add powdered sugar, cardamom powder and chopped almonds, cashews and raisins to it.
  4. Fill each puri ball with filling and shape it by placing it on the mould. To get the right shape of Gujiya, apply water on its edges so that it sticks well and does not open.
  5. Now heat ghee and oil in a pan on medium flame. After this, cook the Gujiya on low flame until it turns golden.
  6. When the Gujiya becomes golden in color, take it out and keep it to cool. Keep in mind that while cooling the Gujiyas, you have to keep them in a gap from each other. Otherwise the Gujiyas may stick together due to which they will not remain crisp.
