CBI enraged after seeing Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia freed from charges, decided to approach High Court
New Delhi: In the much talked about liquor policy scam of Delhi, the special court of Delhi has booked former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and BRS leader K. Many accused including Kavita have been acquitted.
CBI is unhappy with this decision and has decided to immediately appeal in Delhi High Court. The court refused to consider the CBI charge sheet, which has dealt a major blow to the investigating agency.
Preparation for CBI’s appeal
A CBI spokesperson said that in the trial court’s decision, many important points of the investigation were either ignored or not properly taken into account. The agency says they have enough evidence, but the court ignored them.
Therefore, CBI will soon approach the High Court. This step is being taken to maintain the credibility of the investigation, because the investigation into allegations of corruption in the old excise policy is still going on.
Court raised questions on CBI
Special Judge Jitendra Singh made strong comments on the CBI investigation in the judgment. He said that no strong evidence was found against Kejriwal and an attempt was made to implicate him without any basis.
There are several flaws in the charge sheet, such as internal contradictions, which weaken the entire conspiracy story. The judge reprimanded the investigating agency and said that allegations cannot be made without concrete evidence.
There is no evidence even against Sisodia
In the case of Manish Sisodia, the court said that there is no evidence on record to prove his role. Nor has there been any recovery from them. The judge stressed that the investigation cannot be based only on speculations.
CBI tried to fabricate the whole story with the help of statements of witnesses, which is against the law. The court warned that if such cases were allowed, it would harm constitutional values. It is wrong to pardon an accused and make him a witness and implicate others with his statements.
No evidence of conspiracy in policy
The court believes that there is no major conspiracy or evil intention in the excise policy. The entire CBI case is based on guesswork, which shows the weakness of the investigation. The judge said that such action cannot be taken against the rule of law. Aam Aadmi Party has got relief from this decision, but the matter may heat up again due to CBI’s appeal.
These people were also acquitted
In this case, apart from Kejriwal and Sisodia, Kuldeep Singh, Narendra Singh, Vijay Nair, Abhishek Boinpalli, Arun Ramchandra Pillai, Mutha Gautam, Sameer Mahendru, Amandeep Singh Dhal, Arjun Pandey, Buchibabu Gorantla, Rakesh Joshi, Damodar Prasad Sharma, Prince Kumar, Chanpreet Singh Rayat, Arvind Kumar Singh, Durgesh Pathak, Amit Arora, Vinod Chauhan, Ashish Mathur. And P Sarath Chandra Reddy has also been acquitted.
