Former CM Kejriwal became emotional after getting relief from the court, crying and said- ‘Truth has won’

New Delhi: Today there is a big turning point in the excise policy issue which has been discussed for a long time in Delhi politics. In the case over which there was political turmoil and top leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party had to go to jail, the court gave relief to all the accused. After the Rouse Avenue Court’s decision, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal became emotional and tears welled up in his eyes while talking to the media.

Kejriwal became emotional

Arvind Kejriwal spoke to journalists after the decision. He became emotional while speaking and said, “Kejriwal is not corrupt.” He said that for the last several years BJP kept accusing him of liquor scam, but today the court rejected all the allegations.

Expressing confidence in the judiciary, he said that truth has prevailed. Kejriwal also alleged that in an attempt to destroy his party, big leaders were sent to jail. He called it a completely false and fabricated case.

Big decision of the court

Rouse Avenue Court acquitted all 23 accused including Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the case related to excise policy registered by CBI. Special Judge (PC Act) Jitendra Singh clearly said in his order that the prosecution could not prove criminal conspiracy or malicious intent against any of the accused.

The court admitted that the entire story of the investigating agency was not based on solid evidence. According to the court, there is no concrete evidence on record of the widespread conspiracy alleged in the case. This case could not stand the test of judicial scrutiny.

Court’s harsh comments

The court also raised questions on the investigation process of CBI in its decision. The court said that pardoning an accused and making him a government witness and then filling the gaps in the investigation with the help of his statements is not in accordance with the constitutional principles. The court also made it clear that no concrete basis of any major conspiracy or criminal intention was found in the case.

The court said that if such practice was recognized, it would be against constitutional values. With the verdict, all the accused in this case have got a big relief. Besides raising questions on the process of making public servant Kuldeep Singh accused number-1, the court has also recommended a departmental inquiry against the concerned officials.
