Iran: Israeli-US airstrike destroys Iranian girls’ school, 85 students dead so far
New Delhi. Israel has attacked Iran. Confirming the attack, Israel’s Defense Minister said that this step has been taken to stop Iran’s increasingly dangerous activities. Quoting Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the report said that 85 students have died after the US-Israeli airstrike on a girls school in Minab city of Hormozgan province in southern Iran. According to the report, this attack took place during the recent military operation.
Schools and colleges closed in Iran, government offices will operate at half capacity.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council claimed that the US, in collaboration with the Zionist regime, carried out airstrikes on several locations across the country this morning. The council said that the enemy believes these actions will pressure the Iranian people, but that will not happen.
The statement said that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have launched a counter-offensive. The government assured the public that adequate arrangements have been made for essential goods and services, so there is no need to panic. As a precaution, schools and universities will remain closed until further notice, while banks will continue to operate and government offices will operate with 50 percent staff capacity for the time being.
‘We did not want war’: Iran
Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the US and the Zionist regime have violated the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, targeting numerous defense installations, infrastructure, and civilian areas. According to the ministry, despite the potential military threat, Iran chose the path of dialogue with the international community and various countries to defuse tensions and clarify its position.
The statement said that the Iranian people had made every effort to avoid war, but the current circumstances have made it imperative to defend the country and counter enemy military action. The ministry reiterated that just as Iran was ready for negotiations, it was also capable of responding to any war, and its armed forces would deliver a strong and decisive response to the aggressors. It added that history bears witness that Iran has never succumbed to external attacks, and this time too, the response will be such that the aggressors will regret their actions.
