PV Sindhu caught in the middle of Israel-Iran war, stuck at Dubai airport for hours, told how the situation is on social media
PV Sindhu Stuck in Dubai Airport: The increasing tension and war-like situations in the Middle East have also affected the world of sports. Following the attack on Iran by the US and Israel, airspace has been closed, leaving many international players in trouble. These include India’s star badminton player and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, who is stranded at Dubai Airport.
Sindhu, who was traveling to Birmingham to compete in the All England Open Super 1000 tournament, faced problems with her flight due to heightened tensions in the Middle East. While sharing the video of long queues at the airport on social media, he wrote, “All flights have been postponed till further orders.”

Dubai airport closed
Dubai Airports Management confirmed that all flights from Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airports are closed until further notice. Passengers have been appealed not to come to the airport. Because of this, Sindhu’s plan to reach Birmingham is now hanging in the balance.
Indian men’s doubles pair reached Birmingham
In contrast, India’s men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty did not let any hindrance in their journey and reached Birmingham safely. Chirag Shetty wrote on social media, “We landed safely in Birmingham before America’s attack on Iran.” The pair is one of India’s biggest hopes and will make the country proud with their presence at the All England Open.
War also affected other sports
The increased tension in the Middle East has not only affected badminton but also other sports. The Indian men’s basketball team, which had gone to Doha for the 2027 Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers, is currently stuck there. The team was to tour Lebanon, but now the tour has been cancelled. The team is looking for a way to return to India safely.

The All England Open is one of the oldest and most prestigious badminton tournaments in the world. Many prominent players, including PV Sindhu, participate in this competition, traveling through the Middle East. If airspace remains closed for a long time, the tournament schedule may be affected and many big players will not be able to participate, which may have a negative impact on the tournament process.
