Pakistan cancels 156 flights amid serious military conflict in the Middle East

Islamabad. Pakistan has canceled 156 flights amid serious military conflict and tense situation in the Middle East. Tension has further increased due to the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint military attack by America and Israel. In response, Iran has launched missile and drone attacks on US military bases located in Israel and Gulf countries (UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait). Explosions have also been reported in areas like Burj Al Arab Hotel and Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.

According to the report of Dunya News, at least 156 flights of different airlines going from Pakistan to the Middle East have been canceled amid increasing tension between Iran, Israel and America. According to sources, a total of 22 international flights were canceled at Allama Iqbal International Airport and 18 at Islamabad International Airport. Due to this a large number of passengers are stuck.

Officials confirmed that several flights to Middle East countries from the airports of Multan, Sialkot, Peshawar and Quetta were also cancelled. Apart from this, many flights from Jinnah International Airport to different cities of the Middle East were stopped for the day.

Due to security reasons, the airspace of many countries in the Middle East has been closed. Many global airlines including Air India, Etihad and IndiGo have canceled their flights. The UN Secretary-General has described the situation as a “grave threat” to international peace. Crude oil prices have also increased due to tension in Gulf countries. There are 17 countries in the Middle East, mainly Saudi Arabia, Iran, Israel, Iraq, Turkey, Egypt and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
