West Bengal final voter list released after SIR, 61 lakh names removed!
Physical verification of voters was done under the SIR process, in which booth level officials personally distributed and collected voter roll forms. This helped in removing deceased, permanently migrated voters and duplicate names.
Before the amendment process, there were a total of 7,66,37,529 voters in West Bengal as of 27 October 2025, which included male 3,89,03,865, female 3,77,31,887 and third gender voters 1,777.
However, in the process of SIR, 58,20,899 forms were not received, which included 24,16,852 deceased, 12,20,039 absentees and others.
As per the draft publication of 16 December 2025, the number of voters reduced to 7,08,16,630. This includes male voters 3,61,99,391, female voters 3,46,15,837 and 1,402 voters of the third gender. Also, voters above 85 years of age are 4,09,462, voters living abroad are 85 and disabled voters are 4,60,479.
During this period, a total of 1,82,036 voters were added through Form-6 and Form-6A (for new voters and voters living abroad), which included male 89,445, female 92,583 and 8 voters of third gender. At the same time, 6,671 voters were added from Form-8 (for transfer within the state).
A total of 5,46,053 voters were removed from the list through Form-7 (for deletion), which included 2,68,147 male, 2,77,877 female and 29 third gender voters.
After this, in the final list published on 28 February 2026, the total voters are 7,04,59,284, which includes male 3,60,22,642, female 3,44,35,260 and 1,382 voters of the third gender.
Judicial scrutiny of identity documents of about 60 lakh voters is underway by judicial officers appointed by the Election Commission of India following directions from the Supreme Court, while names of 61,78,245 people have been removed.
