Succession process in Iran

The agency said that Larijani said that the Iranian country has foiled the plans of America and Israel with its unity and strength. He said that in the absence of leadership, constitutional rules will guide the country.

Referring to Article 110 of Iran’s Constitution, Larijani explained that if the country has no leader, the President, the head of the Judiciary, and a jurist member of the Constitutional Council, selected by the Expediency Discrimination Council, will assume the responsibilities of the leader for a period of time until a successor is chosen. He said that the process of forming a Provisional Leadership Council is being started immediately and it will be completed as soon as possible.
