Pakistan Out Of T20 World Cup 2026 Salman Agha Loses Captaincy
Pakistan cricket team is out of T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan won against Sri Lanka in its last match of Super-8 on Saturday (28 February), but the margin of victory was not enough to take the team to the semi-finals. The Pakistan team, which failed to make it to the semi-finals in the third consecutive T20 World Cup, is being heavily criticized in its own country, after which the PCB is thinking of bringing major changes in the team.
According to the report, Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi is adopting new tactics to show his displeasure with Pakistan’s performance in the World Cup. Naqvi can remove Salman Aga from the captaincy of Pakistan T20 team. Apart from this, a decision can also be taken on the T20 careers of Babar Azam, Usman Khan, Shadab Khan and Salman Aga.
According to the report, head coach Mike Hesson has advised that Pakistan should move on from some senior players and invest in young talent and restructure the team to suit the changing needs of modern T20 cricket.
Pakistan cricket team was extremely disappointed with its performance in the World Cup. In batting, except Sahibzada Farhan, there was no big innings from any batsman. There were problems in the team’s playing eleven selection and batting order. Fakhar Zaman, who is an opening batsman, was continuously made to bat lower in the order. In the match against Sri Lanka on Saturday, Fakhar got a chance to open the innings and he scored 84 runs in 42 balls. This opportunity could have been given to him earlier also. Everyone except Abrar and Tariq were ineffective in bowling. Because of this, big changes can be seen in the Pakistan team.
Pakistan defeated Netherlands, USA and Namibia in the group stage and reached the Super 8s by finishing second despite losing to India. The match against New Zealand in the Super 8 was canceled due to rain and the team lost to England. Despite winning the last match against Sri Lanka, Pakistan was out of the tournament due to poor net run rate. New Zealand became the second team after England to qualify for the semi-finals from this group.
